After a relaxing and theraputic trip to the holy land (Australia) it is great to be back riding my two advanced horses Neville Bardos and Ying Yang Yo. Being two Australian Thoroughbred horses they found it much too cold up in sunny Pennsylvania so we quickly migrated down to Phillip Dutton's new super equestrian center in Aiken, South Carolina. After standing back and looking at my two Kentucky prospects, I decided first things first, a quick make-over in getting them both clipped. The next most important thing was whacking a set of shoes on both of them. The basic training regime for the first month of work was to gently get them back into gear after their vacation from their three-day event at Fair Hill last fall.
Both horses have quite separate training schedules as they are completly two different horses. Ying Yang Yo is more of a seasoned horse who has already competed at the Four Star level. My main focus with him is fitness. He pretty much knows all there is about jumping, so to be honest he hasn't seen a fence yet.
Neville Bardos on the other hand is a bit younger only being, an eight year old. His focus has been more towards improving his dressage and show jumping. Kentucky will be his first 4*. He is new to this level, but I am confident that he will handle it like a champion. Ying Yang Yo was lucky enough to earn himself a new part owner in Faye Woolf. Faye's help in assisting Thomas' journey towards Kentucky is greatly appreciated by Silva (bride) and I. While Neville Bardos on the other hand, has successfully damaged many fence posts at Phillip Dutton's new farm from his heavy addiction to wind-sucking.
After both of these horses success at Fair Hill 3* I was lucky enough to earn two new sponsors in Devoucoux, and Bit of Britain. So my two horses that I brought over from Australia are seriously looking the part with brand new, top of the line, Devoucoux saddles and all of the accessories you can imagine from Bit of Britain.
Until next time be good, or be good at it.
