Dubarry of Ireland Heightens Fashion at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

Mar 26th, 08

The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event represents the epitome of grace, power, speed, courage, and success for the sport of Eventing. Dubarry of Ireland, maker of equestrian and outdoor footwear, is looking to add even more fashion and style to that list. At this year's Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, scheduled for April 24-27 at the Kentucky Horse Park, Dubarry of Ireland is once again sponsoring awards for the best dressed competitors at the First Horse Inspection. The First Horse Inspection takes place on Wednesday, prior to the opening Dressage phase of competition on Thursday. Competitors present their horses, in hand, for the Inspection Committee, composed of the three members of the Ground Jury and the Veterinary Delegate, to inspect for general condition, soundness and fitness. Horses are presented in immaculate form with glistening coats and sparkling tack. The award for winning the best dressed title at the First Horse Inspection is a pair of Dubarry boots which will be awarded to one male and one female competitor. "It makes perfect sense for Dubarry of Ireland to sponsor the best dressed award at the first trot-up for the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event," said Danny Hulse of Dubarry of Ireland. "Both Dubarry and Rolex pride themselves on tradition and quality, and we think that this is a perfect fit!" This is the second year that Dubarry has sponsored the best-dressed award at Rolex, an award that was received with great enthusiasm the first time it was offered last year. The 2007 male best dressed award went to Ian Stark of Great Britain. The native Scotsman wore a traditional Scottish kilt during the First Horse Inspection. Tiana Coudray of the United States won last year's award for best dressed female. In addition to supporting the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event with its best-dressed award, Dubarry is also providing support as a sponsor for rider Tara Zeigler. Tara will be competing at Rolex for the second consecutive year on her horse Buckingham Place, and will present her horse at the First Horse Inspection dressed in Dubarry attire (however she will not be eligible to win the best dressed award). The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event is regarded as one of the world's premier equestrian events. It awards $250,000 in prize money and is part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. This year's event is a United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Selection Trial for Eventing. Dubarry is renowned for producing high quality leather footwear for outdoor pursuits and their boots are seen on the feet of everyone from eventers to game keepers and farmers. The unique attribute of the company is their expertise in making technically excellent products which are also stylish. Now much copied, Dubarry boots are still the real deal.
