First Horse Inspection
Apr 27th, 05

As this year’s Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event falls in an “off” year (no World Championships or Olympics) it was a relatively small group of 39 horses that were presented to the Ground Jury and Veterinary delegates.
All the horses looked fighting fit, and the cool, blustery weather caused a few horses to throw in a playful buck or two. The foreign horses were the first to be presented. Leslie Law (GBR) and Coup de Coeur, Eddy Stibbe (AHO) on Dusky Moon, and Andrew Hoy (AUS) with Moonfleet and Yoemans Point were accepted by the Ground Jury.
Of the remaining horses, only two were held for re-inspection; Jan Thompson with Task Force, and Amy Barrington with Platinum. Sadly, after further examination by the Veterinary delegates, Platinum was not accepted. Task Force, however was accepted after his second trot up. Donna Smith chose not to present Clifton Say What.
Due to the fewer entries this year, dressage will begin at 10:00 am with the test ride, and the first horse in competition, Hannigan and Phillip Dutton will go at 10:30 am. This was very welcomed news for yours truly, who is still on California time.
I hope to see you at the Horse Park!
Alden Murray
