ROLEX KENTUCKY UNDERWAY
Under gorgeous, blue Kentucky skies, the largest field ever—53 horse and rider combinations—were presented at the 2010 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, and all were accepted.  Three of those were held and represented.  The air travel delays caused by the volcanic ash in Europe threatened to derail the participation of some of Europe’s top riders, but the last rider made it in last night.

The numbers look like this: there are 53 total entries; 4 riders have multiple mounts; there are 19 international riders from seven countries including Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Great Britain, Ireland and New Zealand.

In addition to the regular Rolex festivities, this year’s event also serves as the Kentucky Cup WEG test event.  The Kentucky Cup test events for Jumping and Dressage are also being held concurrently on the Kentucky Horse Park grounds.

This year’s jog was held in a new location—inside the steeplechase track.  The new locale didn’t involve any hiccups, and fans flocked to the official start of the official 2010 event. The action will begin tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. with the test ride followed by the first competitor, Phillip Dutton and Kheops Du Quesnay, at 9:30 a.m.

Stayed tuned for Dubarry’s best dressed award from today’s jog which will be announced later tonight.
